"How to Ethically Claim Ownership of Other People's Information"
(C) Ron Hutton - All Rights Reserved
=================================================

If you've nearly given up on the thought of having your own
information product, don't give up hope now. Follow this simple
plan and you'll be publishing your own information products in no
time flat.

1) Choose your topic.

Here's your "Get Out of Jail Free" card. If you get beyond this
point, you'll have progressed further than 95% of all people
involved with internet marketing. So, stop sweating it so much.
Picking the topic isn't the stumbling block that most people make
it out to be.

You know what most interests you. Now find out if others share
your same passion. Do some research to find out whether or not
your topic is of any interest to others. The easiest way to gage
the demand for your topic is to use a simple software application
called Good Keywords, which is available free here:

http://www.goodkeywords.com/

Use the Good Keywords software to find the search frequency
(looking at Overture, now Yahoo!) for your main keyword phrase.
If your topic is specialized, then step back and look at the
bigger picture to read the barometric pressure of your topic.

As an example, if you intended to publish your information
product on the advantages / disadvantages of children's tennis
shoes that use Velcro straps in place of conventional shoe
strings, your "main keyword phrase" might be "children's tennis
shoes" as opposed to "tennis shoes with Velcro straps".

You'll get differing opinions from one marketer to the next on
what's an acceptable level of "demand". The prevailing opinion
says that you should be looking for 50,000 - 90,000 searches per
month (minimum) for you main keyword on Overture in order to make
your project worthwhile. Well... I don't like generalities much.
These kinds of guidelines don't consider the specifics of your
product / service. Less may be OK.

Got your topic? Is there demand? Yes? Yes? Good. Let's move on
to part 2 of this plan.

2) Find a resource that offers rights (preferably without charge)
to republish information on your chosen topic.

This is fairly easy. Here are some of the most popular sites
that offer articles with reprint rights:

http://www.articlecentral.com

http://www.articlecity.com

http://www.ezinearticles.com

http://www.goarticles.com

http://ideamarketers.com

http://www.netterweb.com

http://www.turboarticles.com

http://www.valuablecontent.com

For additional reprint rights resources go to Google
(http://www.google.com) and search for "your topic"+reprint
rights articles. I just did this for "tennis shoes"+reprint
rights articles and received 551 references. There's an
abundance of information that other authors would be tickled pink
to have you share.

3) Identify products and/or services directly related to your
topic that you can use to monetize your information product.

This step could involve your own products or affiliate products.
If you're unfamiliar with affiliate programs, you promote a
product or service as an indepent contractor and the owner pays
you a sales commission when visitors you refer make a purchase.
That's all there is to it.

4) Review and add commentary on the feature article.

When using an article or information source from another
publisher, the normal requirement is that the article be
republished in its entirety without alteration and that you
included the original author's "resource box" that credits them
as the author. This resource box will have a link to their site
and should not be changed or omitted.

Occassonally, you'll find an author who offers reprint rights
articles AND an affiliate program for their product. This is a
beautiful thing, particularly if they allow you to replace the
URL in the resource box with an affiliate link of your own.

Your objective at this stage of the game is to review the article
that you intend to use and create an introduction of your own and
a list of useful resources directly related to the topic being
discussed. Simple enough, right? We'll come back to this again
shortly.

5) Published the above in an ebook format.

After creating your introductory commentary and resource list,
you're going to create your own ebook. This is not difficult;
and with new innovations in ebook software, you're going to look
like a real pro even if you have no prior experience.

Here are the 3 sections of your soon-to-be-published ebook:

A) Introduction and commentary.

B) Reprint rights article.

C) Resource list.

The introduction can be text only, but if you truly want to connect with your reader, consider adding this as an audio feature. The following ebook software gives you the option of creating the introductory text using the built-in editor and you can record your audio without the need for any other software programs. It's an all-in-one ebook creator solution. It will even scroll the text for your reader along with the audio. It's easy to use and very, very cool:

http://www.squishy-shop.com/deadeasy-ebook-software.htm

You can also easiy add your logo, a picture of yourself and a link to your website. The things you can do with this software is only limited by your imagination.

And how about this?...

Why not read the reprint rights article that you're using?

Again, the audio dimension will help you make a far better
connection with your reader than text alone, and even though the
article was written by somebody else, your voice gives you
"ownership" in the mind of the reader / listener.

Don't discount the powerful effect of audio. By representing
yourself with a picture and audio, you've just acheived the
status of a real live person. Bonds will be formed and defenses
will come down. It's a certainty.

The last component (C above) of this step will be to incorporate
your "recommended resources" list, and guess what?...

This is where you can monetize your ebook. These recommended
resources could include free tools and services, but also (and
more importantly) they should include products that you either
own or for which you're an affiliate.

Is the picture coming together now? Great.

6) Offer your ebook.

This simple plan can be fully executed in a day's time. It's
simple and you can have fun doing it. Create an entire series on
your topic. Once you get your first ebook finished, you'll be
cranking out the next, and the next, and the next... Henry Ford
would be proud of you.

So, what's your first smash hit going to be?

"I know we've met somewhere before..."

These are not the kinds of statements that you want people to

You are an ezine publisher aren't you?

Read today's feature article for five questions you must answer
for yourself before you ever publish ezine issue #1. These
questions apply equally if you're already running an ezine and
are considering it's future direction.

Strategic planning for your ezine will keep your subscribers
coming back for more week after week. You know that you need to
start your newsletter and you've been putting it off so long that
days have turned into weeks, and weeks into months. Don't let
that go on any longer. It's not necessary.

Whether you're just now breaking onto the publisher scene or
you've got a subscriber list and you want to revamp your ezine,
answer the following questions before taking any additional
action.

Q1: What topic do you intend to cover in your newsletter?

- Pick a topic that you're extremely interested in. You don't
need to be an expert. Become an expert. If your interest level
is high enough, you'll naturally be driven to research and study
your topic. Pick a topic for your ezine that you'd love to write
about for 29 subscribers or 290,000 subscribers.

- Will you be a generalist or a specialist? There's a place for
both.

- RE: The Generalist... Newsletters that cover a broad range of
topics and treat them "superficially" tend to attract subscribers
who are new to that topic. Your challenge as a generalist will
be holding on to your subscriber's attention. You'll need a
"hook" each week. This might include short powerful tips and
tricks or perhaps you can feature a favorite free resource with
each ezine issue.

- RE: The Specialist... Your target audience is smaller, but the
chances of developing a very loyal following is better than if
you choose the generalist path. Specialists have to dig deep and
if you like to write and train on the nitty gritty "how-to's",
then the specialist path could be your calling.

Q2: Where will you find material for your ezine?

- Is it all inside your head just waiting for an escape route?
Great. Let it flow.

- Can you take advantage of articles with reprint rights?

- Will you need to do a lot of research every time your write
your newsletter? If yes, that's OK. Just be prepared to set
aside the time required so that you can consistently deliver your
newsletter to meet your subscribers' expectations. Which leads
to the next question...

Q3: How often will you send out your ezine?

- What's the right frequency? It varies. Monthly. Weekly. Twice
per week. Daily. It all depends on your subscribership, how
much time you can devote to writing your newsletter and the
amount of content you plan to include with each issue.

- You'll want people to remember your name, and this is tough to
accomplish when you're publishing your ezine monthly. I think
weekly is good and when special occassions arise send out two
issues in the same week. Surprise your readers every once in a
while. Mix it up.

Q4: What format will you use for your ezine?

- Permission-based email publications are still the mainstream.
However, ISP filters continually make it more and more difficult
to deliver email newsletters.

- Consider a blog. Consider setting up an RSS feed. Give your
subscribers options on how they'd like to hear from you.

- Do you want to write lengthy in-depth articles or short punchy
tips and tricks?

- Will you podcast (audio) or publish streaming video?

Q5: What name will you choose for your publication?

- Does your ezine name communicate anything about the kind of
content that people can expect to receive in your newsletter?

- Catchy is good. Topical is good. Short is good. Descriptive
is good.

Finally, an exercise you can do that might be helpful is to make
a list of the newsletters that you consider to be outstanding.
These are the ones that you open and read 100% of the time they
land in your inbox. Write down the title, author / editor's
name, subject matter.

Next, make a list of the newsletters you receive that you could
unsubscribe from and you'd never miss them.

What are your general observations about these? I'll make an
educated guess that the "loosers"...

1) Never offer any substantial or useful advice.
2) They don't specifically focus on any particular topic that
you're interested in.
3) You receive messages from them 3 or 4 times per week and 95%
of the time it's an ad that's been "cut n' pasted" from the
latest flavor-of-the-week affiliate program / hot opportunity.

Don't let this describe your ezine.

Strategically plan your ezine so that when it comes time to
monetize it, your readers will appreciate knowing about the
products and services that you're promoting. Deliver value up
front and you will be rewarded in time.

5. Laugh a Little ........

The scene is sometime in the old era when cockpits had round
dials plus flight engineers and navigators. The crusty old-timer
captain is breaking in a brand new navigator.

The captain opens his briefcase, pulls out a .38 and rests it on
the glare panel. He asks the navigator, "Know what this is for?"

"No, sir," replies the newbie.

"I use it on navigators that get us lost," explains the captain,
winking at his first officer.

The navigator then opens his briefcase, pulls out a .45 and sets
it on his chart table.

"What's THAT for?" queries the surprised captain.

"Well, sir," replies the navigator, "I'll know we're lost before
you will."

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Hi, nice to have you here :~)

Why is it that the sight of an affiliate link immediately puts some people on the defensive?

I have a theory that it's the same phenomenon that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up when you walk onto a used car sales lot and you're promptly accosted by a guy wearing a red and orange plaid sports coat, green neck tie and white patent leather boots that zip up the side.

Do you hate being "sold"? I really think that it's the same thing when visitors see what's obviously an affiliate link (or poor disguised excuse for an affiliate link) and start looking for a way to buy "straight from the source". Like they're going to get a better deal!

If you sell affiliate products from your website, here's a simple "Sneaky Link" tactic that will help you with affiliatephobes.

Note: This article has a free corresponding step-by-step video tutorial that demonstrates the exact steps to creating your own "Sneaky Links"...

http://www.gothrive.com/sneaky-link-video.htm

Savvy webmaster / marketers understand how important it is to take every possible action to get visitors to let down their guard. We seek information but we resist being sold.

So, the following source code can be used on any web page to create sneaky links that do not have the appearance of typical affiliate links. You're running a non-profit organization right? No? Well, let's just let someone else believe that you are.

Here's an example of source code that will bare your soul to the world. Note: the tags are altered with a period that needs to be removed if you intend to edit and use this source code in your web pages.

No mysteries here:

<.a href="http://www.pluginprofittoolbox.com/idevaffiliate/idevaffiliate.php?id=100">Plug-In-Profit-Toolbox.com<./a>

Now, let's get sneaky. ;~)

<.a href="http://www.pluginprofittoolbox.com/idevaffiliate/idevaffiliate.php?id=100" onMouseOver="window.status='http://www.pluginprofittoolbox.com/'; return true;" onMouseOut="window.status=''; return true;">http://www.pluginprofittoolbox.com/<./a>

To assist in understanding how the "sneaky link" works, let's do a little link anatomy study. Here are the pieces and parts of our link:

Part 1, Beginning anchor tag:
<.a

Part 2, Target URL (affiliate link):
href="http://www.pluginprofittoolbox.com/idevaffiliate/idevaffiliate.php?id=100"

Part 3, "MouseOver" attribute:
onMouseOver="window.status='http://www.pluginprofittoolbox.com/'; return true;" onMouseOut="window.status=''; return true;"

Part 4, Link Text:
http://www.pluginprofittoolbox.com/

Part 5, Ending anchor tag:
<./a>

So, what's the trick? It's in part 3, the mouseover attribute. This nifty little piece of source code tells the web browser what to display in the status bar (very bottom of the browser window), and if the "window.status" is the same as the link text, it appears as though there's no trickery going on. But, we know better.

Is it possible that this link could be found out, discovered and revealed for what it really is? Sure. If someone were to apply a single right-click to the link, the web browser will reveal the actual target URL. However, the average user won't know this so the "sneaky link" tactic can be very effective in getting people to let their guard down.

End result... your click-through rate goes up, you make more sales and we all live happily ever after. Go forth and create some "sneaky links" now.

To view this article's free corresponding step-by-step video tutorial that demonstrates the exact steps to creating your own "Sneaky Links"...

http://www.gothrive.com/sneaky-link-video.htm

There's a zip file available for you to download (no cost, of course) with the exact source code that's shown in the video.

As a marketer or webmaster you surely appreciate the fact that original graphics works on your website belong to you and as far as everyone else is concerned, the sign says "Hands Off". It's only fair. If your blood, sweat, tears and moolah went into the creation of your site's graphics, you'd be upset if you found that someone else had blatantly stolen your copyrighted work and was using it for their own commercial purposes. That's just not cool.

So, where can you go to find photos and graphics that you can use without having to spend an arm and a leg? Here are a couple of sites that offer tons of copyright-free pictures:

I learned of Stock.xchng from another marketer and if I could remember this person's name, I'd gladly give him credit. I've found the inventory of photographs available at Stock.xchng to be excellent, especially consider the cost! Here's what you'll read on their home page...

"Welcome to Stock.XCHNG, the leading FREE stock photo site!

Whether you just want to browse our huge image gallery or want to share your personal photos with others, this is the site for you!

Browse through the categories of our huge gallery containing over 100,000 quality stock photos by more than 9,000 users! Need a wallpaper for your desktop? Need a pic for your commercial website design? Looking for inspiration? Have a look around."

Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org

The following two paragraphs are quoted from here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:About

"Wikipedia was created on January 15, 2001 by founders Jimmy Wales, Larry Sanger, and some enthusiastic collaborators. Three years later, as of December 2004, there were 13,000 active contributors working on over 1,800,000 articles in more than 100 languages. As of today, there are 700,437 articles in English; every day hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world make tens of thousands of edits and create thousands of new articles to enhance the amount of knowledge held by the Wikipedia encyclopedia.

All text in Wikipedia, and most images and other content, is covered by the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL). Contributions remain the property of their creators, while the GFDL license ensures the content will remain freely distributable and reproducible (see the copyright notice and the content disclaimer for more information)"

You'll find additional supporting documents and links to documents explaining the terms of use for graphics available at Wikipedia. You may find this site to be very useful.

So, now you've found a photograph that suits your purposes perfectly, but it's provided in a high resolution file format that just won't resize well. You've tried altering the image dimensions in your photo editing software and the resulting image quality is just plain poor. Now what?

My favorite program that solves this problem is call Snag-It. This outstanding little piece of software offers lots of slick tools and features, but as it applies to this discussion, the simple screen capture function is indispensible. More information on Snag-It is available here: http://snagit.gothrive.com and the following video will show you just how quickly and easily Snag-It will give you the perfect graphic for your website. Go here to watch a short demonstration of Snag-It: http://www.gothrive.com/snag-a-photo.htm

Hi, nice to have you here :~)

How are your digital products like toothpaste?

Once the toothpaste is out of the tube, it's extremely
difficult to get it back in.

Huh?...

Ya. I know. You might have to stretch your imagination a bit,
but if you're offering free ecourses or ebooks as a part of your
list building strategy, and...

If affiliate links are included as a way of monetizing your
marketing efforts, then...

You need to take this one very important step to make sure that
you're always in control. Go watch this week's GoThrive Online
VideoZine and it will all become very clear to you:

==> http://www.gothrive.com/tkii.htm <==

NOTE: The full article follows if you'd prefer reading it...

=================================================
"How to Use Tracking to Keep Income Incoming."

=================================================

The use of tracking links in the following scenario puts you in
complete control when someone else makes a change that affects
your webpages, your links on other peoples' sites, or your links
in ebooks or ecourses already in circulation. Additionally, the
potential time savings in editing the pages that are within your
control can add up to hours and hours saved for you.

NOTE: This article has a free companion video tutorial that
demonstrates how to quickly and easily put yourself in complete
control of your hard earned traffic. The video can be viewed
here: http://www.gothrive.com/tkii.htm

Here's the scenario...

1) You're promoting someone else's product as an affiliate.

2) You've built and uploaded multiple web pages with this
affiliate link long ago.

3) You've written an ecourse with the affiliate link included
in multiple messages.

4) You've created a viral ebook that's been downloaded 5,000
times in the last 9 months and it includes this affiliate link.

Now, everything is rolling along quite nicely and you receive
an email message from the owner / creator of this affiliate
program advising you that they are launching new affiliate
software on a new server and it will mean that your old affiliate
links will no longer work - effective tomorrow. Ouch.

Without the use of tracking links, you'll need to...

- Find every web page where this affiliate link is located, edit
the pages and upload the updated versions.

- Edit your ecourse messages with the new revised affiliate link
and update your autoresponder.

- Forget about all your hard work invested in creating your
viral ebook because you can't recall the ebooks and there's no
way to remotely fix the affiliate link.

Not only is this all quite unfortunate, but it's going to cost
you time and potential income lost. So, how can you avoid
getting in this situation in the first place? Here's the good
news...

The solution that puts you in complete control is the use of
tracking links. Instead of using the affiliate URL to link
directly to the product or service, be the middle man with your
own tracking link. Here's how the traffic will flow...

1) Traffic lands on your web page and clicks the link you
provide, which is a tracking link.

2) The visitor is directed to your tracking program, which in
turn redirects the traffic to the affiliate program.

Simple enough, right? Absolutely.

The real beauty of this is that when you get the message from
the affiliate program administrator announcing the news of their
wonderful new affiliate program and your updated link, you say
"Hey, cool. No problem." You log into your tracking program's
admin panel, edit the target URL for your tracking link and your
work is done in 60 seconds flat.

No editing and uploading of web pages. No editing or updating
of autoresponders. No lost income from broken links in your
viral ebook. It's a beautiful thing.

The scenario will happen. It's only a matter of time. Will
you be able to successfully make all necessary adjustments in 60
seconds or will you be scrambling for hours? The answer is in
your decision whether or not you use tracking links.

to quickly and easily put yourself in complete control of your
hard earned traffic, go here:

1. Ron's Remarks ...

Hi, nice to have you here :~)

"Can you teach me to do that?"

You're talking with a good friend explaining all of the exciting things that you're working on for your internet business, and out of their mouth come the words...

"Can you teach me to do that?"

You can't blame them for wanting to join in all the fun. It's obvious that you're excited about what you're doing, but...

You've spent months and years observing, studying and testing your webmaster and marketing skills. Your friend wants you to wave the magic internet marketing wand over their mouse and wa-la! They now know everything that you do.

Break the news to them gently. This particular cyber fairy tail genre does not exist. Your friend will just have to learn the basics first just like the rest of us lucky folk.

What's this little scenario go to do with today's newsletter? Read today's feature article and it will make more sense.

Okay. Now on with the show...

In search of the coveted search engine traffic? Yes? Then don't ignore your meta tags. If anyone tells you that meta tags are not important, they are seriously misinformed. Follow these simple rules and the clicks will come. Skip them and the high search engine rankings that you work so hard for will never deliver on the true traffic potential.

Imagine that you check your incoming email and there are two messages waiting for you. You look at the summary information for each and they appear as follows:

MESSAGE #1: From: unknownperson@obscuredomain.com
Subject: iaviq qiegaie aeiapih

MESSAGE #2: From: your-favorite-guru@gurusite.com
Subject: An "insider" shortcut guide to creating sensational ads

If you're interested in how to write killer ads, which message gets opened and which goes in the trash? It's obvious I know, but it's relevant.

Test the search engine results for one of your website pages and here's what you'll find...

The search engine results pages (SERPs) for the big 4 search engines (Google, Yahoo, Altavista and MSN) display information to their users by spidering your web pages and grabbing the text from various areas. When someone conducts a search and sees your web page in the results, here's what you can expect them to see:

GOOGLE:
Your title tag
Your description meta tag

***********

YAHOO!:
Your title tag
Your description meta tag
Text from the upper area of your web page

***********

ALTAVISTA: Your title tag
Your description meta tag
Text from the upper area of your web page

***********

MSN: Your title tag
Text from the upper area of your web page

Do you see the parallel between your web page's title tag and description meta tag in comparison to the "from" address and subject line in our email analogy above? The copy that you use in these tags becomes your advertisement to the world when your pages are displayed in search results.

Since each of the top 4 search engines display your title tag first, take some time and think through what you want people to see. Offer benefits. Offer a solution. And when you write the copy for your title tag, use your targeted keyword / phrase at the beginning of the title statement. Search engines place a high value on the title tag.

Your description tag (used by Google, Yahoo and Altavista) should serve as your call to action. Write your description in such a way that it compliments the title tag and motivates the searcher to click through to your site for the answers to their specific problem or need. Your targeted keyword phrase should be included once but not at the very beginning of the description.

How important is it that your website name be included in the title tag or description meta tag? You can draw your own conclusions, but in my view it's not important. The link to your website will show people where they're going from the SERPs, and after landing on your site the URL in their browser along with your site's branding will help them remember where they've landed.

Don't shortcut or poo-poo your site's title tags and description meta tags. When the day comes that you're ranked number one in your niche (and you will be), make sure that Google, Yahoo, Altavista and MSN display the information that will motivate searchers to click though to your site instead of the site listed just below you. It's your traffic. You earned it.

5. Laugh a Little ........

A man walks into a restaurant with a full-grown ostrich behind him, and as he sits, the waitress comes over and asks for their order. The man says, "I'll have a hamburger, fries and a coke," and turns to the ostrich.

"What's yours?"

"I'll have the same," says the ostrich. A short time later the waitress returns with the order. "That will be $6.40 please," and the man reaches into his pocket and pulls out exact change for payment.

The next day, the man and the ostrich come again and the man says, "I'll have a hamburger, fries and a coke," and the ostrich says, "I'll have the same." Once again the man reaches into his pocket and pays with exact change.

This becomes a routine until late one evening, the two enter again. "The usual?" asks the waitress. "No, this is Friday night, so I will have a steak, baked potato and salad," says the man. "Same for me," says the ostrich.

A short time later the waitress comes with the order and says, "That will be $12.62." Once again the man pulls exact change out of his pocket and places it on the table. The waitress can't hold back her curiosity any longer. "Excuse me, sir. How do you manage to always come up with the exact change out of your pocket every time?"

"Well," says the man, "several years ago I was cleaning the attic and I found an old lamp. When I rubbed it a Genie appeared and offered me two wishes. My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, just put my hand in my pocket, and the right amount of money would always be there."

"That's brilliant!" says the waitress. "Most people would wish for a million dollars or something, but you'll always be as rich as you want for as long as you live!"

"That's right! Whether it's a gallon of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there," says the man. The waitress asks, "One other thing, sir, what's with the ostrich?"

The man sighs and answers, "My second wish was for a tall chick with long legs who agrees with everything I say!"

Hi, nice to have you here :~)

Google's calling your name...

Hi, Google here. We want to index your website...

Is anyone there?

This article has a free corresponding online video tutorial that shows you how to summons the magic Googlebot to spider and index every page on your website, and it will only take about 10 minutes of your time.

Go here now to watch exactly what to do, step-by-easy-step...

http://www.gothrive.com/google-sitemap-video.htm

What you have access to with the new Google Sitemaps program is truly a gift from the Google gods. They've offering you a tool that you can use to keep your site constantly indexed and updated in the search engine database. With Google Sitemaps, webmasters can now take charge and make sure that their entire site is crawled and indexed.

One important note to make is that the Google Sitemaps program will not necessarily improve the ranking of your site's pages. It only ensures that Google knows what you've got online for them to look at.

Before reading the following statement, promise yourself that you won't stop reading if you see a term that seems a little scary. OK? Promise? Good. Go ahead and keep reading then.

The format specified by Google for "their" sitemap is XML (extensible markup language). Did I loose you yet? No? Good again.

You do not need to understand how to code XML to participate in the Google Sitemap program. There are plenty of free online tools that will create your XML sitemap for you with no XML knowledge required on your part. More on this in a second.

What information is including in this XML sitemap?

1) The URL for every file on your website.

2) A relative priority rank that you can assign telling Google which pages on your site are most important for them to look at.

3) The date last modified for each page.

4) Anticipated change frequency per URL. This again is a variable that you control.

According to Google, your XML sitemap can include up to 50,000 URL's. If your site is a real monster and has in excess of 50,000 URL's, then you'll need to create a hierarchy of sitemaps with one leading to the next. This way you'll be able to lead Google to all of your pages.

The options for generating and maintaining your Google Sitemap range from complex systems that are highly automated to very simple systems using online sitemap generators that require nothing more than clicking a few buttons.

Google now keeps a list of these 'third party suppliers' of generators on their site. Find them here: http://code.google.com/sm_thirdparty.html

The program that's demonstrated in our free video tutorial (http://www.gothrive.com/google-sitemap-video.htm) is found here: http://www.auditmypc.com/free-sitemap-generator.asp

In a nutshell, here are the steps involved with using online generators:

1) Start the program.
2) Enter your site's URL
3) Click the "Start Crawling" button
4) Customize URL priorities and change frequencies
5) Save the site map to your local hard drive
6) Upload your new Google XML sitemap to your website in the root directory (where your home page resides)
7) Validate your new sitemap
(can be done here: http://www.smart-it-consulting.com/internet/google/submit-validate-sitemap/)
8) Submit your XML sitemap to Google.

You can access the pages for the Google Sitemap program here:
https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/login

8 steps in about 10 minutes. That's all there is to it.

One question that you might ask is whether or not you still need an HTML sitemap, and the answer is "Yes, you still need your conventional sitemap". XML sitemaps are not intended for human visitors. To see what I mean, take a look at the two following sitemaps:

HTML sitemap: http://www.gothrive.com/sitemap.html

XML sitemap: http://www.gothrive.com/sitemap.xml

Which version do you prefer? Your visitors will like the HTML and Google prefers XML.

When you add pages or new content to your site and you want Google to go back to have a fresh look, just log in to your Google Sitemaps control panel, select the sitemap to revisit, and click "Resubmit". It's never been easier to get Google to spider and index a website. Don't miss your opportunity to use this tool to your advantage.

To your success,
Ron Hutton
