"Who's harvesting my email?"

It may not be time for fall harvest, but if you're receiving an
inordinately high volume of spammy email, someone or something
may be harvesting your email address right off of your website.
There's an army of nasty little robots running around the web
scavenging email address anywhere and everywhere they can. Once
yours is nabbed, look out. It gets ugly and extremely annoying.
With just a few minutes of webmaster work, you can put an end
to this.
Here are three effective solutions:
1) Install a contact form script where your visitors can enter
their contact information and submit comments or questions to you
without the use of email. This isn't necessarily a project for
complete newbies, but it can be done.
It helps tremendously if the script's documentation is really
well written. One of the best programmers and teachers I've ever
met is Will Bontrager. He has a wonderful assortment of
commercial scripts, and the one that fills this need is called
Master Form V3. This program can handle far more than just a
contact page.

2) Instant Email Scramble is one of the programs included in
the Amazing Web Tools package. This is a nifty program that
hides your email address so email harvesting robots can't find it
in your page.
The email address can still be read by people visiting your
site and works exactly the same way when someone clicks on your
email link.

~ Instant Email Scramble is actually only one of 14+ scripts and

3) Use a "mailto:" link on your page; and instead of including
your email address in type, create a graphic of your email
address. The spambots can't read the graphic.

NOTE: If you want to use this code for yourself, remove the "."
after the "<"
The way this code works is that your visitor will click on the
image of your email address, a blank email message will pop up,
and they'll have to fill in all the blanks.
So, there are three very effective options for stopping
spambots dead in their tracks.
