Go straight to the source.

Learn how you can quickly and easily verify whether or not
an affiliate link belongs to you if your web page or site was
built by someone else.
You do not have to understand html, cgi, java or any other
"fancy" stuff. All you'll need to know before hand is your
affiliate ID for the program you're promoting.
THE FOLLOWING QUESTION WAS RECEIVED FROM A GOTHRIVE ONLINE
EZINE READER:
"Hi Ron,
On one of my sites that was set up automatically for me,
I noticed that when I click on any of my "affiliate links" that
there's no affiliate number following the url when I land at
the destination site. How in the heck does "the affiliate
program" know that I referred this visitor if there is no
affiliate ID number following the URL?
I don't want to send people there and not get paid should
they buy something. I just want to be double-sure that I get
paid if it's my efforts that sent them there."
MY REPLY:
"Go straight to the source and know for sure."
If you want to verify that your affiliate ID is the one
that is built into your website, you can do the following
(these instructions assume that you’re using Internet Explorer,
but other browsers should be similar).
1) Go to the web page that has the affiliate link you want
to verify. I'm sure you're hoping it's yours.
2) Click on the “View” drop down menu, select “Source”, and
a new window will pop up in Windows Notepad. You’re now
looking at the coding used to build your web page. If
you're not familiar with the source code used to build
web pages, don't worry. The rest is simple.
3) In the Notepad window, click the “Edit” drop down menu and
select “Find”.
4) Enter the affiliate ID that you want to verify. It'll be
either a number or name provided to you by your affiliate
program manager. Click the “Find Next” button.
5) Notepad will search for (and hopefully find) your affiliate
ID occurring somewhere as part of your affiliate URL.
If it's there, you can be pretty well assured that the
visitors you're sending to the sales site will be credited
to you when they purchase the product / service.
