If I could share a little secret and tell you how to achieve an 80+% sales conversion rate, would that interest you? Am I kidding? No.

Do you segment your lists? If you don't, start now. It's so vitally important to know where the people on your mailing list have come from, but don't stop reading now because list segmentation is only one variable in achieving unbelievable conversion rates.

If you want to send a bonus report or fre.e gift out to your customers, how do you know who they are? You want to give your customers the VIP treatment don't you? You want them to love you, don't you? Well, you're going to have to be able to pick them out of the masses and tell them that they're special.

Group hug.

Hey! Don't laugh. Group hugs are alright, but they can be tough to do with email.

Subscribers who...

~ Requested a free report
~ Subscribed to a free ecourse
~ Subscribed through an ezine ad
~ Subscribed through a resource box from an article submission
~ Subscribed from Google Adwords traffic
~ Purchased a product from me
~ Were referred through a joint venture
~ Expressed interest in a particular topic
~ Subscribed through a coregistration list

You could continue to drill down and drill down, but we'll stop here for now.

Where's that 80+% group?

They are in another sub-list not shown above. My highest conversion ratio comes from a select group of people who have come to trust my advice. They're the ones who will pick up the phone and call me with a question. They're the ones who, when they send me a personal email, know that they'll receive direct and honest answers to their questions.

That's the 80+% group.

How do you find your own 80-group? Make yourself available. Invite your subscribers, prospects and customers to contact you directly.

I shake my head in amazement when someone tells me that they refuse to put their name, address and phone number on their website. They're afraid... of what?

Being chastised?

Not knowing an answer to a question?

Getting flamed by someone who signed up for a program and didn't make a bazillion dollars?

Wow. You're more likely to be beaten silly with a ring bologna by your derange and senile neighbor.

When someone calls you or sends you an email message, mentally set aside everything that you're currently working on and listen. Be present. Don't just listen passively but put yourself in the shoes of the person on the other end of the phone (or the mouse).

You're THE GURU now. If you don't know the answer to a question, find the answer. If the answer is "doesn't matter" or "you're wasting your time with that", then tell them in a professional and courteous manner. Do this and your 80+ group will grow and grow and grow.

At first glance, listening to others may appear to benefit only them. But when you become a good listener, you put yourself in a position to help yourself too. You have the ability to develop strong relationships, gather valuable information, and increase your understanding of yourself and others.
